Has great comics downstairs [Catwoman!!!]. Fairly good value, with nice people that know what they're talking about.

I don't go here as often as I go to the Leeds FP, but from what I've seen in both I'd say this one is better for anime, manga, superheros and any kind of graphic novel. If you prefer Gloom Cookie, JTHM and Ted Naifeh, and you're looking for just one comic, I think the Leeds FB is better. Manchester has a bigger selection though, especially graphic novels, and also sells anime figures, Living Dead Dolls, other "toys", magazines and posters. I love all the Forbidden Planet's I've been to, and you should definitely go to one if you're a fan of any kind of comic.

A great shop - BUT the downstairs is so hot & humid in this weather and stinks like the stale sweat of a thousand star trek fans. How the staff can bear it, I don't know, I was only there for half an hour! Anyway, they just got in 'The Girls of Goth' by the singer / artist Voltaire (if anyone has heard of him). It's a very well illustrated book for fans of goth, Nightmare before Xmas, The Crow - that sort of thing.

This place has a bit more variation in stock than places like Another World. I didnt really get to have a good look round but they have a great supply of comics which are worth checking out!

actually i prefer another world for things other than comics. they have a better range of comics here but a greater range of other collectables in another world.

If you go into the shop and pick up a coy of their mail order catalogue (which is only a quid), they now carry a range of New Rocks, shorts and sew-on patches for various bands. However, I've seen no evidence of the kit actually being in store or on their website. It may be mail order only.

This is an ace shop, lots of NBX and general Tim Burton stuff, shame that the people who own it seem to be permanantly grumpy:(

I prefer this branch of Forbidden Prices.... uhh I mean Planet much better than the London one. Its much more quiet and peacful and you don't need to battle against nerds to get to the manga. They also seem to offer a much more off-beat range.

Forbidden Planet has just been extended and the ground floor is twice the size it was before. They now have a large variety of new and used video games(is that what you call them?), even more action figures and a huge selction of books. A good range of NBX stuff, plus Living Dead Dolls, Emily, Ruby Gloom and some other rag dolls similar to LDDolls. The downstairs floor still has the huge selection of comics and manga and stuff.

Have to agree - the expanded Forbidden Donut, er...Planet is now much better upstairs. There's more stock and the appearance is much nicer. Are they planning to do anything with the downstairs? It still gets hot and claustrophobic. Even another Magic Tree would help!
