Sat, 7th Aug 10: Pride Parade (Brighton, East Sussex) - Trevor Edwards, Pride's Parade Officer said: "We have has a terrific response from groups and organizations wanting to take Part in what always turns out to be a joyous occasion. While It is always unfair to highlight any one entry over others, there will be some very eye-catching entries to watch out for. For the first time the RAF will be taking part in the Parade. Their theme 'Reaching Out - its not just us that are diverse, our jobs are too'. The public's appetite for men and women in uniform will be further satisfied as Sussex Police will be on the Parade as will the fire services of the whole of Sussex, along with their colleagues from Kent and Hampshire. There promises to be more fire engines than you can shake a stick at. The Parade is a visible manifestation of all that Pride stands for and contributions to the charity's educational remit"
Entering into the spirit of the Pride and (No) Prejudice theme will be local student union who'll be combining forces to give spectators a tale of Victorian morality.
Brighton Rockers Roller Derby promises to raise a smile or two, as they're busy preparing their bustles, corsets and big wigs to skate their way to Preston Park.
AIDs charities will be well represented by the Terrance Higgins Trust, Sussex Beacon, while other LGBT community groups spreading the message of tolerance and acceptance will include MindOut, the mental health charity; Allsorts, the youth project; the LGBT Drug and Alcohol Service and Brighton & Hove Switchboard.
There will be plenty of local and national businesses, as well as political parties represented.
