Really cool pub, right next to the bus stop so when you hit Oxford you can dive straight in. Good selection on the jukebox though the drinks can be on the tad expensive side.

Mark, the landlord of the Gloc, is on record as saying he puts up his drink prices to "keep the student scum out of his pub". Goth events used to take place here, but like a lot of other goth events in Oxford, they eventually crashed and burned.

Absynthe and aftershock (blue and red), they also serve Snake bite and black (Or diesel as I call it) unlike most of the other pubs around which look at you blankly and go 'huh?' when u ask, then say 'sorry mate, not allowed to pour it'.

drinks expensive?,.. depends what your drinking really,... with house doubles on vodka, whiskey, gin, and bacardi @£1.65 and carlsberg @ £1.65 a pint and tetley's @£1.50 still pretty cheap if you ask me,decent juke box and dj's every thursday (70's,80's,90's) and fridays (4 different dj's on a four week rotation) but then again i'm probably biased cos i work there (shameless Plug i know) and it's only 5 minutes walk from intrusion!!!

Monk? Yup, this place is definately in my list of favourite hang-outs! When the DJs are there you can request certain music to be played, depending on what the theme of the night is (i.e. 1970's and 1980's music.etc).

Probably my favorite pub in Oxford, I practicaly lived there for a whole year when I was 15/16, and then for some reason they started IDing all of a sudden.

Are the drinks cheap now? I don't remember them ever being cheap? Mind you I don't spend much time in Oxford these days, so compared to London they are probably very cheap!!!

this is proably one of the cheapest places to drink in Oxford, i have no idea why people are saying it's expensive? Vodka double for c.£2 and it's Smirnoff too not cheap nasty shit. Tetleys £1.50 a pint. Pretty good if you ask me.

at the mo we have 3 dj's at the gloc. suffer/kate is on thursday, playing punk (new and classic), ska etc. friday night is classic rock night, playing anything from 60s, 70s and 80s with dj ramone. and then on a saturday we have dj sparky playing modern rock and metal. so yeah.... 1.73 carlsberg, 1.74 double house spirits, 1.53 tetleys. D

This must have changed since I was last in this pub, I seem to remember the drinks being very expenive..or maybe it was the amount of drinks I was consuming thathas clouded my memory..I guess I will have to go back and check this out!

This place is as close to the Devonshire Arms in Camden as Oxford really gets. Has anyone else noticed the huge amounts of sediment that you get in the snakebite-and-blacks sometimes?

I went last on a Saturday night and to be honest if I wanted to go to a place packed full of people with music so loud you can't think I'd go to a club. I really can't stand this place... Some of the people there are horrible as well.

Wash your Mouth out, Lord Emperor!, really darling this place does not compare to The Dev.....but I suppose there are only a tiny handful of places in Oxford (pubwise) that are worth visiting and I guess sadly this in one of them. XxX

I'm not horrible :-P. I know most of the barstaff who work here and they're nice. I last came in and sat down quietly and there were loads of people barging about seemingly only thinking about themselves.

I actually find that the London pubs I go to are much more friendly than anywhere in Oxford..which you would presume wouldn't be the case! XxX

The only real decent place to go in Oxford if you're a goth/rocker/metaller. Even if it is just to hear Master of Puppets on the jukebox just as it reaches kicking out time, and to take advantage of the cheap booze and the generally friendly atmosphere. Not too impressed by the DJ's to be honest, but I guess thats just down to personal taste. Oh, and if you're hoping to hear a song off the jukebox, make sure you get it on EARLY!

I found that the best way to meet peole at the Gloc is already to know someone. A bit like this whole scene really. A catch 22, but once you're in with the crowd (goths, being cliquey and pretentious? us?) it's awesome.

We are not cliquey! I have never found this to be the case..people worth talking to will allways chat to you! XxXxX

Ok, turned up on a Saturday, purposely on my own. Yeah there are some good friendly folks here, like withing 30mins I'd been invited to join an old biker couple for most of the night. DJ Ramone was on, enjoyed his music. Only problem I had was the lack of women, but thats not the pubs fault and only matters if you're on the market. Carlsberg £1.69? Bargin
