Often described as "haunting", SS's atmospheric darkwave sound gained them a considerable American following during the 90s.

The music that makes me dust the cobwebs off my black fairy wings. melodic, haunting, eerie, witchy sounds of twinkling beauty. (well near enough)

Bread and Jam for Frances

This, their second album, is probably the most experimental of all Switchblade Symphony releases, and one of my favourite Goth albums ever. Combining genuine Goth with trip-hop scratches (if you like Portishead you might well enjoy this even if you don't normally go in for this kind of thing), the duo came up with some of the most darkly sexual music I have yet to hear. I would be most surprised if anyone could listen to the deliciously spiteful whispers of 'Insect' without finding himself or herself aroused. In fact, this entire album should send a shiver up the strongest of spines. Heavily influenced by the UK's very own Siouxsie & The Banshees, B&J4F contains Goth club classics 'Witches' and ‘Sheep’, not to mention tons of other great tracks. Oh, and just in case you ever wondered, it's named after a cute kids book by Russell Hoban about a cute young female badger who decides she only wants to eat bread and jam from now on - Switchblade keyboardist Susan Wallace used to listen to the audio book a lot as a little girl :)

This is still considered by many (myself included) to be Switchblade Symphony's best album. The smooth vitality that is somehow bottled into each song has a magic all of its own. Excellent!

Sinister Nostalgia

This is a terrible excuse for a Switchblade Symphony album! When I first looked at the names of who was doing the remixes I thought it might be good but dont let that fool you... I cannot even begin to express how disappointed I was with every single song. The music lost all of its meaning, style and appeal. Remix albums normally aren't terribly amazing but this one tops my list of bad beyond belief.
