Description, by jen

Collide is the continuing collaboration between electronic soundbuilder Statik & kaRIN, whose edgily lilting voice sounds like Kate Bush, Toni Halliday & Siouxsie in a blender. "Luxurious" is a term not frequently applied to industrial music but it's pretty appropriate here, & thanks to Statik's recent work on Tool's latest release Collide's fan base is steadily increasing.

Beneath the Skin

A refreshing combination of hard electro, sweeping soundscapes and neatly-integrated guitars. Against this, singer kaRIN's elegant vocals serve as a beautiful counterpoint. There is a great deal of variety here, ranging from Deep, which is reminiscent of All About Eve, to Violet's Dance, which starts slowly but then bursts into an EBM piece reminiscent of the Blade Runner theme. It's also worth mentioning that the follow-up remix album, Distort, contains some excellent dancefloor-friendly interpretations of these tracks.

This album suprised me, in the way that i actually prefer it to Beneath the Skin. The opening track is great in my opinion, although "Crushed" is better, this album carries on the standard right through to the last track without getting lost in the middle.
