Description, by jen
You'd have to go through a lot of lattes & smokes to achieve the impossible speediness & gruff unintelligibility of Nile. Maybe that's their secret, who knows? They're certainly hot for Egypt, & the fact that few people would have the patience to learn the lyrics to numbers like "Nas Akhu Khan She En Asbiu" doesn't seem to dampen their enthusiasm at all. |

ugggggg! grrrrunnnntt! *mash the fret boards* egyptian style?!! turns out as Nile. A good Death Metal act, certainly original and worth a listen, vocals similar to most of the genre, like cannibal corpse, etc. but with a slightly different sound shining through by their Egyptian connections. Some nice instrumental work aswell. A generally all round good performance, can become a little repetitive after a while though, but if Good metal is what youre after, and something different from the standard bunch of "throat clearing with drowning riffage", gove them a go, you oughta be impressed by at least some of it!

In simple terms Nile are the best death metal band in the world. They are innovators and are leading the way forward. This release shook the world of metal with its visionary epic styling and brutality balanced with technicality. The album kicks into a full on death metal assault and by the time the chanting of 'Black Seeds Of Vengeance' kicks in you will be well and truly hooked. The album moves into faster territories and the hugeness of their songs really strikes. 'Masturbating The War God' is where the band really hit the hardest as the impenetrable but flowing wall of riffing and the blasting drums leaves you flattened. The pace changes and complexity of the instrumentation leaves you baffled as does the Egyptian instruments and the choirs of chanting priests. The sleeve noted for this are notable in themselves. They contain all lyrics and detailed song analysis and historical background.buy this album

A re-packaging of Festivals of Atonement and Ramses Bringer of War which are now out of print gives a very useful and equally amazing cd.the brutal Relapse style grind infused death of 'the howling of jinn' is a fast paced full on assault of the senses.'ramses bringer of war' starts with its symphonic intro and sets the scale of the song which is massive and technically awe inspiring, sanders vocals changing from low throated grunts to anguished growls to his unique battle cries.the production on the cd is superb bringing out all elements of the music with a rumbling bass driving the music forward as layered guitars and frantic drums are in constant motion.this is a band with direction, with a musical vision and they pull it off with ease and stand head and shoulders above their peers and that is just from their earlier output.
