The sound is honed, refined, and added to - Almost gone are the mournful minimalist ambient melody lines - though they're still there - now the sound is more complex, darker and harsher. More symphonic and with added crunchy distortion effects, the expanse is wider and more emotional. The strangely titled "A bolt out of the blues" is a classic example of atmosphere creation. Both simpler on the surface and more complex and intricate deeper in, this is darkambient with brains - subtle chord changes and dark scraping sounds make an intense listening experience, both uplifting and mournful at the same time.
