Last time I went to this (a while ago)it was great. Apart from them playing nin 5 times in 2 1/2 hours, although from what I've heard it's improved alot since that.. So pull on your 80s clobber and get down there..

For a friendly atmosphere, excellent alternative 80's music and many a cheesy trip down memory lane. Deviation's what you need!

Having just been, I can really recommend this place for a good night out. Wonderfully pretty venue, friendly people, and a nicely varied selection in music, including a good slice of cheese.

Just a note to all last minute folkies checking Deviation dates... I've been in contact with folks & JD's etc. and they reckon April's Deviation is PROBABLY going to be cancelled. So don't take Chris' date for granted, DOUBLE-CHECK!

This should be on as I type (out of York) and is still the only event in the city that has EVER improved by changing venue, despite the perplexed regulars who fill the 'open' side of the pub.. Worth a gander.

i'v only been going to this since i came to york in september and olbob suggested we go. frankly this is the best night out since Sheffield Corporation shutdown. Great atmosphere, great people, great barstaff. the appearence of Screamiong Banshee Aircrew at one of the evenings was also a wonderful treat. keep it up. But.. whens the next one?

A little heavy on the cheese, but still a lot of fun. As for all the people staring at the rather large woman with African American features, you CAN come up and say hallo next time, don't be frightened, I won't mug you or anything lol. Definitely worth watching the American woman trying to understand the lagerized Yorkshire accent. Thankfully, Simm acted as interpreter because apparently no-one understood what the h*ll I was saying either. A refreshing night out away from the "poser-goth" culture, but a bit more Goth music, please? Watching people in black dancing to the B-52's version of "Drunken Sailor" was a scream.

I am delighted to advise you that there will be another ...Deviation event on 07-June-2002, featuring DJ's Vicky and JD plus guests. Mr. Sherrington can't make it unfortunately, so there may be a cheese shortage on the night. We'll make up for it somehow, don't worry!

Due to unforseen circumstances (actually, we should have forseen it because it happened once before) tonight's (23-Jan-2004) Deviation event has been cancelled. Yes: they've gone and double-booked the room, haven't they? Please accept our sincere opologies. . .

Actually, they've double-boked Friday 13th Feb 2004 also, so we've got the upstairs room at the Bay Horse on Marygate instead. The Bay Horse has much improved since the new landlord took over and if the event goes well we might do some more down there. . .
