It is very busy as Clairy suggests, but I find going over the holidays when most of the students are away at home means things are a lot quieter. The music is mostly nu-metal and cheese, but I found the DJ's to be pretty accomadating, explaining they'd play my Cradle of Filth later into the night when people were a bit more sloshed, a point which I can very much understand since the Cathouse seems to be about 75%/25% split between alternatives and trendies.

Probably worth mentioning (for the benefit of dinosaur-aged Goths like myself) that the crowd here is often very young (average age circa 21-22, I'd say). It's got to the stage that the Cattie have now even started running an *official* under eighteens night!!! (Saturdays, starts about 6.30 I believe, if anyone reading this is interested). Other top Cattie tip: if you're skint, ask about the drink promos, they usually have something worthwhile, like Hooch 2 for the price of 1.

Good drinks promos lately. Saturday nights gets you an Aftershock or a sidekick for £1.20. Thursdays are cheep night too. All drink £1.30 I believe.

Thursdays are INDEED cheap 'n cheerful - "Skint" at the Cathouse, with all drinks goin' for the princely sum of one pound thirty. Additional money-saving tip for skint-goths: pop into the Solid Rock on the way to the club, most Thursdays there's a guy comes round handing out free Cathouse passes about 9pm.

Indeed the cattie have an unders night, Saturdays 6 - 10pm £5 entry (u can usually get a £3 pass from Hellfire Clothing) The unders nights are not bad although there are a growing number of "trendies" going, being a goth seems to be the "in" thing to be right now and this is spoiling the cathouse. besides that, its a club worth going to!

The Cattie has actually went down hill dramtically. Ok there is a new punk night on the last sunday of the month but even that isn't that great. Sorry a bunch of kids skanking to punk when they should be pogoing just shows how bad things have come. Yes you can get goth stuff played but normally just a band of about twenty minutes ( one bauhus song )best idea is to get in early get cheap drink get the goth stuff played and then leave before it fills up with trendies. O and always get a free pass other wise you get charged a fortune to get in.

Cathouse unders night is being taken over by nu metallers an trendies. *sighs* I am amidst a generation of Slipknot Junkies and I don't see what the fuss is about, they are an ok band as bands go but give me Iron Maiden or Guns'n'Roses anyday!! But the Catty still plays the legends and it always makes for an interesting night out.

The new "Skint" on a Thursday night now gives free entry to all before midnight, which is good news - though they've put their drink prices up to £1.40 (how will we survive ;-)

Remember the fun we all used to have when 'alternative' used to actually be alternative? Judging by recent visits to 'Voodoo' this is no longer the case. It seems that bands like My Ruin and Smashing Pumpkins have been replaced by the likes of Linkin Park, Sum 41 and Papa Roach. But fear not because they also play heavy (ahem) stuff such as Slipknot. Since when was our beloved scene all about image? When will this all stop? Argh!

Hey, it's the worst night out in Glasgow. You couldn't be more bored as you're jostled by neds and she-males, not to mention they play the same music every week. The place to be if you like having drinks spilled down your legs and drunken old men trying to chat you up.

A good club to go to, if like me you only really go occasionally, for all ages. Friday/Saturday nights are good. Level 2 probably better than Level 1, depending on your taste. But perhaps too many of those people who are into the scene just because its fashionable at the moment do go.

About as alternative now as a Linkin Park single. Best part is a Friday night early on when DJ Barry puts on some great stuff, other than that it descends into Cheesy music downstairs and nu-metal hell upstairs. Has become a complete mainstream club with little character.

I've had a few good nights at the Cathouse, best thing to do is get in very early, rush to request your songs then get the drinks in and wait. the DJ's are pretty good, its the crowd who aren't.

was not keen on the music, but the atmosphere was worse, people did not seem to be that friendly...

I went to the Cathouse last nite, and to be honest I was disappointed, it was way too crowded for my liking, and the music was too nu-metalish for my tastes, I mean they didn't even play Marilyn Manson. The "Solid Rock Cafe" was much more entertaining.

It makes me mourn The RatTrap, from all those years ago really. The Catflap used to be ok to go to, if there was nothing else happening- they used to run an industrial night ages ago, but that died, and now it's been taken over by munchkins in slipknot hoodies and baggy jeans. Nu-metal, to plastic punk, to cheese, to time to go home early. All very sad.

So many posers, so little space. Still a good night out if you go to have a good time and not pose, some good bands...lovely staff. Shame that its overrun by trendy folk.

Am I right in thinking the under 18's nights are not a fair representation of the club itself? Although it is probably those early Saturday evenings that fund the place, as the pre-teens & the [very] bored flock in huge numbers.

I went the other week for the last time.It was the unders.I'm not really a dancing/skanking/moshing (whatever you want to call it) person,so I dont really like it.I just went for the sake of it,with my friends/b/f.Theres alot of "normally" dressed people there. But the "goths" are still going strong. So go if you've never been.Worth at least going once.

the good news is that Llanelli drew Glasgow in the European cup so expect another invasion by a bunch of pissed Taffies again soon. Really enjoyed the cathouse last time I was in Glasgow, friendly bunch, good music. May make this a regular once a year trip.

Cathouse. They say there's no place like home, but let me bring ma duvet and I'd live there any day! It's not really been overrun by trendies, true there are some, but they mostly stay downstairs and go v. quiet upstairs NEway. Music is gr8, top floor is the best, I go to the unders, so I can't really comment on drinks but I go loyally every week, wouldn't miss it for the world. Acey xxx ps luv ya, Cathouse!

I paid the Cathouse a visit on Wednesday this week on my travels. Excellent venue - good sound & lights, fair-sized dance floor, plenty of seating, two bars, and thanks to the enlightenned Scottish Executive, clean air to breath as well. Music mainly Moshing Metal. Frequented by a very young crowd.

I was dragged to the cathouse by my friends a few weeks ago on a saturday night and i can only describe the experience as completely dire! the music was all over the place, there would be one fairly danceable tune followed by something awful which resulted in us going up and down the stairs all night. Upstairs seemed to be a mix of post hardcore/ nu metal weirdness and downstairs was jurassic rock music like iron maiden, led zeppelin and probably status quo i was simply too disgusted to pay attention by that point. there certainly wasnt anything that would appeal to people of a gothic persuasion. The crowd was a weird mix also, a combination of young trendies, i even saw a few suits in, and old rock dinosaurs. I used to look forward to going to the cathouse but after this im not sure anymore.
