Slimelight ... well what can I say - that place is damn addictive ... I try not to miss a saturday and since i have been going to Slimes have only missed a few nights when I have been in London (once cause I was so sick i could not move and a few others here and there when i was too tired or something) Music is good and the people are sooo friendly (incl staff and regulars!) ... You will either love it or hate it ... but you have to try it at least once!

I lurrrrrv this place! Although I think it's a shame that it doesn't seem to be as packed as a few years ago and there seems to be a few more "no effort" trendy clubbers there (at least when I go). Great none-the-less! =)

It takes a bit of effort to last the night, but it's usually worth it, if only 'cos you get to ride home on the tube, then sleep though Sunday. The central meeting point for London's goth and industrial scene and a good selection of music (requests welcome). Great fun, pretty all the time.....

Membership is really easy and cheap, too. It costs £10 for a whole year. You'll need to find someone to propose you and someone else to second you - but believe me, you won't find this a problem; my mte Scott proposed me and there were about 5 people offering to second me. People really are very friendly. One little tip though; if you get there early, don't put your coat in the cloakroom straight away. Slimelight is based in an old warehouse, and there's no heating. It soon warms up once people start dancing (and indeed, sometimes the walls get quite slimey with condensed sweat), but in the first hour or two it can be pretty chilly. There are several bars that serve alcohol up until 2am, and soft drinks all night (though most people bring there own; you can also get a fairly decent cup of coffee. Nearest tube is Angel; if you leave before the finish however, the number 43 night bus goes from the second stop across the road from Angel tube station. There are always plenty of minicabs outside too.

Went to S/Light for the first time on 6th October. Got there just before 10 and parked RIGHT outside the door leaving the car under the protective gaze of the door guy!!! No problem getting in, but a tad concerned at the appearance of the place. No worries once inside, tho', the Goth floor was playing superb atmospheric music as we supped our 2for1 drinks...smoke machine working overtime to create an excellent atmosphere, dancers becoming just eerie shapes in the swirling "mist". Upstairs VERY loud but equally good choice of music. Agree with DarkRose, quite chilly to start with, but we left with sweat POURING thru my PVC. Great music, great atmosphere, great (and interesting!!) people. Just a shame it's so far from Canterbury, otherwise we'd go every week.

Slimes is great, especially if you know a few of the local bitches and bitch-boi's. Failing that got with a few mates if your from out of town, as you'll be there for 7 hours odd and you'll probably want to have a conversation at some point. Folks are friendly, though not always chatty....or English for that matter. Big bonus that you can bring your own drinks, really makes the place what it is. But there is a downside, the decor is rabid, its like an abandoned shed that smells bad, and the bogs are gross.

Went for the first time a few weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it. Music is really well organised, plenty of Industrial & EBM with lot's of traditional Goth too. Something for everyone really! Everyone's really friendly, bar staff as well as your fellow clubbers. Simply fabulous sweety!

I've tried! god knows i've tried to like this place, apparently it is the place to be, but, i don't know, maybe ive been spoilt, but i like being able to sit down without being covered in un-removable red gook, i like clean floors, and buildings that don't drip condensation on your head. too cold, and too over-rated (im probably going to die for this are'nt i). however, if you want to hear the latest music, well before it hits your local dancefloor, done the wipe clean pvcs and get on your way, and despite rumour, its not really that clicky or stuck up. (thats nottingham!)

I hate to say "it's not as good as it used to be" but on the whole it's not. Seems progressively less busy and the Dj sets are a bit less audience friendly than in the days of Ben and Irish Dave IMHO. Still. It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp pig.

This weekend was my first slimelight experience...maybe my last!? Which does not mean that i do not liked it but it's a little far away from here. ;-) I think the music was, especially in the beginnig, very good but later that night it turned more and more into industrial /electro and I missed a little bit Dark Wave and Melody. Some people seemed to be too drunk to dance, but unfortunalty they tried it anyway! ;-)Very surprising: a lot of german music...very strange for me. But all in all it was a hot night, my legs still hurt!

I went for the first time on new-years eve and i had a great night, despite being too battered to figure out where i was or what was going on most of the time... i also arrived home looking like i'd been doing a hard night's gardening - the floor was all muddy and my furry boots are now coated in slimelight's special brand of non-removable mud. hey-ho!

Excellent night last night. It really worked having the "four" rooms. Even if Marc and I did have to start a new dance floor - seriously obstructing people going to the downstairs unisexes Still we got peopel dancing where there was no dancing before. Great night! Loads and loads of people and top usic all over the place.

Came during April's WGW and found the club disconcertingly low in numbers! (But I guess that's hardly surprising) However, still had a really good night. There were still enough people to conjure a lively lively decadent atmosphere, and although only 2 floors were open, it was nice not to get claustrophobic and bumping into bods every second. Oh and the Chameleons got played too ;)

agree with some of the above points... i went for my first time in april 2001, and my last in january, (i dont meen the last time i will go, i meen the last time i did) it does seem to be a lot more regular hard house types now, but if you catch it on a 3floor special night, especially on a perversion night then it is by far the best night your going to get, short of going to see your fave band somewhere. and the toilets arn't bad, THEY HAVE CHARACTER. (theyve been fixed up by the way).

Having been to other Goth/alternative nights over the past few years (Malice Underground, Full Tilt) I finally got the chance to go to Slimelight with my fiancee a couple of weeks ago. Loved the whole "warehouse" ambience of the place, and since it was summer we didn't notice the lack of heating. My only real gripe with Slimelight was the poxy glowstick brigade, who started off upstairs and then seeped down to the second floor when the DJ started playing vaguely electronic stuff. If there's a guarantee that there'll be less of glowstick-wielding neon-brigade then I might take femgoth's advice and go on a Perversions night (I found Perversion in Los Angeles to be quite enjoyable).

Does Slimelight require you to go in with a member if you're a guest? I'm planning a trip down to London early next year with a couple of friends from Finland, so these are the things its important to find out..

If you're a guest you need a member with you. To become a member you need to be recommended by two members. If you plan on going to Slimes quite frequently then this is definitely worth it. It's true what they say, you either love the place or hate it. I loved it; lasting until 7:30am requires some effort but overall it's a good night. I went to the 3-floor special and thouroughly enjoyed myself, and now I'm a fan of The Legendary Pink Dots ;)

I tend to only go there now when there is a 3 floor special on - sadly enough, the main reason for this is that the downstairs loos are open, rather than having to use the foulness that is upstairs! Also love the music played when they have the IndusTec room as I think the music on the third floor is a tad too painful and the second floor a bit too trad for my taste. The music played in the IndusTec room hits a good balance for me, bouncy bleepyness!

'Welcome to my parlour said the spider to the fly' Well from a strictly male point of view this place is eye candy and some. First time I walked into this place my bottom jaw dragged on the ground for a good hour. The 3 floor special is amazing. Music is great ranging from industrial Dance all the way to Gothic. I still have the pretty little ladies swimming around in my head ;-)

Went there for the first time 7.12.03 and had a great time! Gotta say the cages were the best - my little friend and I could have danced forever (thanx for the lollies, Mr Lolly Man!!). The music was a lot more dance-orientated than I expected, but the atmosphere was so good I hardly noticed. Definitely going next time I'm in London, but don't ask to share our cage -IT'S ALL OURS!!

I would have to say that Slimelight is not as could as it used to be or it could be. I was fortunate enough to be an attendee prior to the Cyber floor replacing to Goth floor, and since then there has been a general decline in attendees and seems to get less and less full, which detracts from the atmosphere, the setlists have become very generic, and where the hell is the deathrock and horrorpunk that has become so popular in the US and Europe on the scene? This is the one movement that could salvage guitar based goth music in the country where it started. It's time to redress the balance. Overall Slimelight has become a generic Goth night like in any small town where they cover the whole scene on one dance floor and add a techno floor in the name of evolution.

Just think of the ULTIMATE GOTH CLUB. This is the best club in Britan, especially the 3 floor nights. On those nights you have a 'Tradgoth' room downstairs, an 'EBM/Cyber/Futurepop/Industrial' room on the second floor and a 'Hard House/Trance' room on the top floor. That night only happens 'Monthly' though, which is a damn shame, but none the less, it's still a great club either way. It takes a lot of trouble trying to survive the whole night though, I mean 10:30 - 7:30 is pretty heavty. They also stop serving Alcohol at 2:00, but never fear, they let you bring your own Beer in.

Went to Slimelight for the first time last Saturday (25th). Was pretty good really, wasn’t sure what to expect but it did turn out pretty good. Wasn’t quite used to paying so much to get into a club, but once in the drinks weren’t terribly unreasonable, or at least I’ve been to worse. Wasn’t a member but it didn’t stop me getting in, I think as long as you’re alternative-looking in some sense you shouldn’t have much trouble. It was very cyber, but that didn’t bother me too much. I liked the music and enjoyed dancing to it. When I arrived there was a fair deal of space to move around in, but it quickly filled up, though there was always enough room to find a spot to dance in. They could probably do with more toilets in the place but that can be lived with. It being open to seven am was quite a bit much for me and my partner, too much early morning shopping in Camden I suspect. Will be going again sometime soon-ish after getting more sleep before hand and hopefully more clubbing stamina. Getting home on the buses afterwards was a bit of a pain, could really have done with just slipping into bed afterward :o)
