relentlessly camp and incorporating elements of electronica into their sound, asf were a curious proposition. they couldn't play their instruments or program the drum machine but that was okay becuase nick fiend couldn't sing either. the early singles are damn near untouchable on the back of it, a triumph of insanity over substance. 'r.i.p' and 'i'm doing time in a maximum security twilight home' stand out as does 'ignore the machine' which frequently turns up on compilations.
sadly somewhere along the line it all went horribly wrong and the mid-nineties album 'nocturnal emissions' is elevator music for the gothic generation. a tedious electronic wasteland of utterly disposable songs. stick to the early stuff its much better.
