Founded by Blixa Bargeld [also a Bad Seed] and N. U. Unruh and hailing from Berlin, Neubauten were one of the pioneers of industrial music, experimenting with white noise, industrial objects such as power drills and construction materials.
Although not their first album, 'Die Zeichnungen Des Patienten O.T' was possibly the one that gained them the most recognition. They have released albums on labels such as Thirsty Ear, Some Bizarre Records, Elektra, Nothing and Mute. Their latest release was 'Silence is Sexy', in 2000. |

visit their website at www.neubauten.org and join as a supporter! in an attempt to by pass all the usual record company stuff they are asking for a (i think) thirty dollar donation. for this you can help them in the recording of their latest album and in return you will recieve a recording of this album (due for belated release soon - it was origionally scheduled for 1st of april 2003!) plus access to the 'supporters' part of the website with it's free downloads of rare archives, studio out takes plus live broadcasts an even the occasional on line chat with the living deity that is blixa bargeld. also visit the website if you are after archive material, for they claim not to have made a penny from any of their pre-mute releases (that's anything pre-1990) and would prefare it if you bought these albums direct from them, now that they own them rather than some bizarre. a new album presumably means a new tour which is excellent news for they are a fine live band. don't expect any pneumatic drills for they left that all behind years ago (and don't like being reminded!) but their stage show is fascinating. one of the... no wait, THE best band ever. so there.
