Description, by jen
Brought about originally to produce angry dance music, NE gained success on the international club scene on the strength of their early singles ("Let Your Body Learn", "Join in the Chant"), then grew more polished through the mid-80s as a result of fraternising with the likes of Die Krupps & Depeche Mode. |

Wonderfully gritty dancey industrial. Melody Maker apparently described them as "serenely bad-attitude bad-trip totalitarian non-rhythms cast in pig-iron, circuit boards and crushing volume..." Which sums it up pretty well. To be fair, they were probably expecting something else.

That Total Age

Their frantic, in-yer-face debut album. Much rawer and simplistic than their later work, That Total Age nevertheless stands up on it’s own. Released in 1987, it is a solid piece of EBM with disturbing, shouted lyrics – to quote ‘Join in the Chant’, “Muscle and hate!”
