They released their eponymous debut album in 1998 to critical acclaim. Their second album, 'Toxicity' took the blueprint laid down by the first album and made it into something truly special. With standout tracks like the singles, 'Chop Suey' and 'Toxicity', and politically-charged songs like 'Deer Dance' and 'Prison Song', SOAD have intelligence, passion and two truly talented songwriters; genius guitarist Daron Malakian and singer Serj Tankian, whose voice can go from a croon to a roar in the same song. With a fanbase that spans metallers, goths, 'normies' and dance music fans, there's something in System of a Down's music for everyone.

Every song sinks into your memory straight away, and the sheer nonsense of it all with have you reaching for the lyric book (wired were the eyes of the horse of the dead pilot???).
