STEAMPUNK SPECIAL: ACTION DIRECTE + THE BIG SNAKES MYSTERY ORCHESTRA + ALICE MOVING UNDER SKIES ACOUSTIC

Action Directe have been many things at many points in their 14 year history, however with the recent release of their "Red Album" they've returned to their industrial-punk roots and created what must be their defining record. Having gone through a number of line-up changes, the band are now more focused and committed than ever before, whether storming through their new material or breathing life into their older anthems. As Dominion put it, "this is the spirit of the underground, if there's ever a time to check out Action Directe - it is now!".

The Big Snakes Mystery Orchestra have been described as what happens when "the fractured mind of an insane composer finds itself in an alternate 1940s, band leader Bigelow Snakes is missing in action, as are the entire horn section, but like the band on the titanic, the mystery orchestra play on...". Recommended for fans of Bowie, Amanda Palmer, The Decemberists, Bauhaus, Nina Simone, Tom Waits and Nick Cave.

Alice Moving Under Skies have become firm favourites at Flock, however they've never played an acoustic set for us, until now! Beyond the obvious Lewis Carroll influences, in their usual electric capacity AMUS play hard glam-goth rock underpinned by pulsating darkwave beats, all held together with a Victorian sensibility. Their greatest asset is singer Penny Dreadful’s impressive vocal range, while their polished sound recalls the decadence of Faith And The Muse with raw guitars added in for good measure. (Sphere)
