Just went to the new and Improved Batfink at Club Aqua (under Ponds Forge Sports Centre - Underground! Perfect for a Goth night!) And it was FANTASTIC, The Music slipped gently from Darkwave to Trad to industrial to Cyber, the organisers are all local Goths who know what a good Goth night needs and the clientele are as friendly as you would ever want to meet. The venue is H.U.G.E and air conditioned (perfect as i wear a lot of velvet!) With a large circular dancefloor in the middle of the club, so no jostling for space. Add to this i got a free cocktail on the way in (vodka and Stuff!) and they were a pound all night, Plus a resident Photographer (get your best kit on!) and Music request fairy, which when you request a track you are given a pack of sherbet dips free! This place has the potential to be bigger than Dissolution ever was.

Anyone who was ever put off going to Batfink because the Raynor Lounge was too small, hear this - the new venue is fantastic, it's big enough to allow Batfink to be the club it has the potential to be, rather than it being squashed into a venue many sizes too small for it! Lots of space to sit down, minimal queues at the bar, big dancefloor in the centre with lots of room, and best of all, AIR CONDITIONED, for those of us who like to dance energetically in PVC or velvet coats. The variety of DJs means that there's a great mixture of music played, so you can guarantee that if you're into anything along the lines of goth/bleep/rock/alt 80s, there'll be something for you! Add to that the fact that as of next month, there'll be a bleepy room separate to the main room, and you have what I think will be one of the best nights out I've ever been to. Are you persuaded to come to the next one yet?!

An absolutely spectacular venue with a big circular dancefloor. I got talking to many people there and they were all very friendly. Also I found the drinks to be quite reasonably priced for a club. However the DJ didnt seem very request friendly.

The new venue is excellent modern facilities (but still nice and Dark and with lots of smoke) and friendly/helpfull Door staff. The music is a mix between dark alternative and Goth and cyber. although i personaly wish more modern gothic rock and Darkwave was play they do have request slips although they dont always get time to play them due to each Dj only having about an hours set in total. Guest djs also add a bit of variety too. Overall a good and friendly alt/goth event and much better than Leeds alt/goth night Wendyhouse in my opinion

Batfink is now back to two rooms on a permanent basis. We have scrapped advance tickets so it is £5 on the door and £4 for current valid Hallam/Uni RockSoc membership card holders. Snakebite & black is also on special at £2 pint!
